Please note: Events is a premium feature. Contact us to switch this on.

NOTE:
If you aren't familiar with Events, it may be beneficial to review the Events guide first, otherwise, let's continue!

The latest update to the GuestDiary.com mobile app brings the ability to post Events to your website whilst on the go and directly from the palm of your hand!

Sounds Great, How Do I Get Started?

Firstly, if you don't have the app installed, make your way over to the Apple App Store / Google Play Store and download it!

Once the app is installed and you've successfully logged in using your usual GuestDiary login, click on the Events tile.

Upon reaching the Events page you will be presented with a number of toggles, checkboxes, radio buttons and text areas. Don't panic, we're going to cover all the bases in this document.

Event Type & Title

First things first, you'll need to decide what "event type" you wish to create.

For the purpose of this tutorial, we will be creating a "Wedding Open Day" Event for our Diary and Website.

NOTE: You could activate each of the toggles and create all of the above at once but you must select at least one type to be able to submit the event.

Did you notice how a new area appeared when we selected Event? These areas will only be shown if you are adding an Event or News Article and are used for adding additional text and image content to your post! These aren't needed for adding a Task or Pricing Alert.

Event Content

As seen above, selecting Event reveals a new text area. Treat this as the Content of your Event, any information relevant to the event should be entered here. The text area also allows you to add some basic styling to the content, i.e colours, bold & italics, bullet points etc.

Add Images

The next area will allow you to seamlessly upload images directly from your device gallery. Once an image has been added, a new Remove Image button will show to allow you to remove any mistakenly added images.

NOTE: For the purpose of the demonstration we will only add 1 image, however, you do have the ability to add more than 1 image. Also, the interface for adding images will look different depending on your device type.

Event Date Restriction & Days of the Week

This feature is especially useful for setting up recurring events! You are not obliged to restrict by date, however, your event must occur on at least 1 day of the week. Our Wedding Open Day Event is going to occur on the 27th of March 2019 and start at 15:00 and as it is an open day, it will only occur once. In this case, we will select to restrict by Both start and end dates.

In this example we can leave all the day boxes selected as we are restricting to a specific date. However, if you had an event that was going to take place on a specific day, you would simply need to deselect the unnecessary days.

Finally, click save, your Event will be uploaded and will automatically appear on both your Diary and your Website!
